I was looking for a good bushcraft knife and ordered this BOB knife, a Ka-Bar and a Gerber. All three were great knives. Pluses for this BOB knife, IMO, are the precision-fitting and simpler ABS sheath (the Ka-Bar has a very good one too) which also rotates in any direction, the built-in fire-starter rod, and striker at the back end of the tang, and an indent in the handle to use with the top of a bow-drill shaft (much easier on the hands!). Wanted to keep the Ka-Bar too because it’s a bigger, heftier and very impressive knife but didn’t have a couple features that the BOB has. My biggest drawback on the Gerber was the sheath, which was heavy nylon and it seemed like it would move around a lot, vertically, when trying to unsheathe/sheath it. This BOB has a more precisely fitting sheath and simpler, sturdy metal belt clip. Also like the look of the BOB. I wish I could have kept them all but the BOB won out as my top pick. All three are made in the USA, by the way — something that was a must for me.
